Exhibition: Wade Marynowsky – Nostalgia for Obsolete Futures
Visitors to the National Gallery of Victoria in August will be met with the autonomous force of Dr Wade Marynowksy’s interactive robotic sculptures.
Almost reminiscent of a Doctor Who episode, the alien-like abstract robots will be set loose in the foyer of the NGV Australia. With their stalk-like necks atop billowing skirts, and luminescent purple eyes with their otherworldly gaze, the works straddle humour and high camp. An insight into Marynowsky’s fascinating artistic practice the exhibition will also include sound sculpture, audiovisual installations and performances. Be prepared for a delight of the senses, as well as the revealing of a dramatic new work that Marynowsky will develop at NGV studio during the course of the exhibition.
